Activision and Infinity Ward have announced its post-launch plans for upcoming title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Call of Duty Black Ops 4 has loot boxes so many believed that Activision will continue to Modern Warfare.
To everyone’s surprise, Modern Warfare will ditch having loot boxes. A Battle Pass system will take its place. Activision also states that loot boxes won’t get added at any time, even after launch. The blog post also says
“All functional content that has an impact on game balance, such as base weapons and attachments, can be unlocked simply by playing the game,”
Another change is that all post-launch maps will be free for all users. They won’t be sold separately or in a Season Pass. This is Activision and Infinity Ward’s way of helping keep the community together. Cross-Play is also featured in this title for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Having Cross-Play and free post-launch maps will make getting the community together as important as ever.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launches on October 25th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
