There’s more than a year’s time to wait before Sony is expected to release the PlayStation 5, but despite that wait, a few rumours are circulating about the next gen gaming console.
The most recent rumours state that the PlayStation 5 could cost almost $100 more than its predecessor, the PlayStation 4.
ProGamingShop, an online retailer based in Slovakia, has listed the PlayStation 5 on its website for €499 ($552.87).
If this pricing is correct, it’s around 25% more expensive than the PlayStation 4, which was priced at $399.
The product page also predicts a release date of December 4th for said console.
While Sony has previously revealed that the PlayStation 5 will release in ‘Holiday 2020’, this is one of the first times we’ve seen an actual date predicted online.
President and CEO of SIE, said: “Since we originally unveiled our next-generation console in April, we know that there’s been a lot of excitement and interest in hearing more about what the future of games will bring”.
“Today I’m proud to share that our next-generation console will be called PlayStation 5, and we’ll be launching in time for Holiday 2020.”
In a recent article I explained and broke down the generational changes and features from predecessor console generation to its successor next generation console. It doesn’t seem like we’ll receive much innovation with this incoming wave of consoles, so why the $100 bump in price? What are your thoughts?
