Sony Removes Facebook Interrogation with PlayStation 4

Sony has made a surprising decision today to remove interrogation between Facebook and PlayStation 4. The news came from their support page announcing the removal. They did not give any reason as to why this removal was made.

Sony said:

Starting on October 7th, 2019 Facebook integration will no longer be supported on the PS4™ system. This includes Facebook’s share features such as posting gameplay and trophy activity and using the friend finder feature. We apologize for any inconvenience.

So now Facebook won’t be an option when trying to share screenshots, gameplay, trophies and etc. Also if you used Facebook to import profile pictures unto your PS4 that picture will also be removed as well. Sony recommends selecting a new profile picture so that your friends can identify you.

I personally do not like this sudden removal. I frequently share my gameplay and platinum trophy achievements on my Facebook account. There will still be ways to go around this by downloading and still posting unto Facebook but being that I use Facebook as my main social media platform this news is pretty disappointing.
