After months of speculation, we finally got confirmation that Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC. During a Q&A with Sony’s PlayStation blog Hermen Hulst, who runs PlayStation Worldwide Studios, confirms that a PC version of the once PlayStation 4 exclusive will launch this upcoming summer.
When asked about the rumors about the PS4 exclusive coming to PC Hermen Hulst responded by saying:
“Yes, I can confirm that Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC this summer…. There will be more information coming from Guerrilla, from the new studio directors”
Hulst reiterates to the fans that Horizon Zero Dawn going to PC doesn’t mean all PlayStation exclusives will follow suit.
“Sure. I think it’s important that we stay open to new ideas of how to introduce more people to PlayStation, and show people maybe what they’ve been missing out on. And to maybe put a few minds at ease, releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC. In my mind, Horizon Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance. We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware”
From a business perspective, it makes sense to put the game on PC. But thinking back when Microsoft starting releasing their titles to PC the same things that Hulst said in the Q&A were some of the same that Phil Spencer said years ago. Personally, exclusives are what help sell the consoles. Hopefully, PlayStation won’t follow suit and keep exclusives exclusive.
Horizon Zero Dawn released on PlayStation 4 February 2017. The PC version will release on Steam this summer.
